Michael
Strand on Board:
I was contacted by Michael Strand the other day via email. He
is the Son-in-law of Charlie Gedge. He has produced numerous projects
for the CBS affiliate in Minneapolis and offered to help. Needless
to say I was very happy to hear from him and extremely grateful
for his offering to help. I was so grateful I put him right to
work. Seems as if he may be able to be the project's narrator
as he has done this before. He will be reviewing the documentary
script also. Right now I have him racking his brain to try to
figure out where I may have seen some footage I want to use. I
will now ask you:
I want a sequence showing the ocean whizzing by as you may see
it from the bow of a large ship. The footage I am looking for
was in a movie where they showed the ocean whizzing by at about
30' below. The camera holds this postion for a while then starts
to slowly pan up until the viewer is looking out at the endless
horizon. It is a very powerful visual that conveys motion across
wide expanses of ocean. I want to use this sequence in the background
as a segue to show the 586 going from one area of operation to
another. Does anyone know of such footage?
Pushed Back
Well it is official. I am going to have to move back the release
date of "Borne on the Fourth of July". I am working
with someone on the 3D animation and that takes a while, it
is more complex than I imagined but should be very very worth
it. I cannot wait to get it together. I also took over the newsletter
duties and that has taken me away from editing the video and
writing the script. I will continue to work hard on the project
and hopefully will complete it the week of Christmas. Shouldn't
be much past that but most assuredly, it will be ready for the
review of shipmates at the next reunion.
